Leclerc takes Monaco GP pole


After the twice red-flagged qualifying period, it was Leclerc who earned the all-important pole for Sunday’s Grand Prix on a track where overtaking is famously difficult.

He pipped Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez – who both crashed out of Q3 in the dying seconds – after the one-hour qualifying session, which is split into three segments with five cars each being knocked out in Q1 and Q2 before the top-10 shootout of Q3.
